THE BOYS BASEBALL CODE OF CONDUCT

Our Mission

The Boys is a permanent, competitive travel baseball program based in Rutherford County. We are committed to developing skilled, disciplined, and high-character players while keeping the love of the game strong. Our focus is on fundamentals, hustle, accountability, and competing at a high level through local tournaments primarily within 1.5 hours of Nashville. We maintain an affordable, professional organization that minimizes financial stress on families.

Core Values

•  Accountability & Discipline

•  Maximum Effort & Hustle

•  Respect for Teammates, Coaches, Opponents, and Officials

•  Personal Responsibility & Team-First Mindset

•  Long-Term Love for the Game

Player Expectations

1.  Effort & Accountability.  Players are expected to give maximum effort at every practice, game, and tournament. This includes running hard, diving for balls, backing up plays, and maintaining focus throughout. Lack of effort will be addressed immediately.

2.  Attitude & Behavior
Players will maintain a positive, coachable attitude. Complaining, arguing with coaches or umpires, or showing poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. We represent “The Boys” with pride and respect at all times.

3.  Team First.
Individual success is secondary to team success. Players are expected to support teammates, celebrate others’ achievements, and put the squad above personal stats or playing time.

4.  Communication
. Players must communicate openly and respectfully with coaches and teammates. Any concerns should be brought directly to the coaching staff.

5. Self improvement. Players will be expected to develop their skills outside of organized team activities. Coaches will explain areas of each player's particular skill set that need improvement and give homework for players practice at home. It is expected that the players do not limit their time improving their skills to just practices and games organized by the team.

Uniform & Appearance Standards

Proper appearance and uniform standards are non-negotiable and reflect team pride and professionalism.

•  Jerseys must be fully tucked in at all times during practices, games, and tournaments.

•  Hats must be worn correctly (forward-facing, not backwards or sideways unless specifically permitted by coaches during warm-ups).

•  All components of the uniform (jersey, pants, belt, socks, and hat) are mandatory and must be worn as issued.

•  Uniforms must be clean and in good condition.

•  Players must arrive in full uniform or team-issued practice gear unless otherwise instructed.

Failure to meet uniform and appearance standards will result in reduced playing time or other consequences as determined by the coaching staff.

Coaching Standards

•  Both head and assistant coaches are paid positions.

•  No coach has a child playing on the team, ensuring complete fairness and impartiality in playing time, lineups, and team decisions.

•  Coaches are to bring high-level knowledge, leadership, and professional instruction to every session.

In the event that a pick up player is added to the roster, they should not supersede an originally rostered player for playing time and should be used specifically to fill gaps for a specific need.

Coaches are to be fair and impartial in all decisions pertaining to the club. Decision-making should be in the best interest of the team.

• Coaches are to work on developing players as young men. Demanding respect and manners, whether a player is addressing a teammate, opposing player, spectator, opposing coach, official or their own parents. Being mindful that being a good ball player comes second to being a good human being.

• Coaches are expected to set the example for how The Boys expects players to behave.

• If a coach is ejected from any baseball game for conduct unbecoming the organization they will receive a one game suspension and will be fined $100.

Consequences for Violations

Repeated or serious violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:

•  Verbal warning

•  Reduced playing time

•  Bench time or removal from a game

•  Suspension from practices or tournaments

•  Removal from the team (in extreme cases)

Decisions will be made fairly and consistently by the coaching staff with communication to parents when appropriate. Head coaches are also the general managers of their respective clubs. All baseball related questions are to be taken to them. Owners will not interfere in the Head Coaches’ management of their clubs. Issues regarding violations of our core values should be discussed with the coach and if a resolution is not reached, the Owners should be made aware.

Parent Expectations

Parents play a vital role in supporting the team’s culture. We ask that parents:

•  Reinforce the Code of Conduct at home

•  Allow coaches to coach without interference during games and practices

•  Model respectful behavior toward officials, opponents, and other parents

•  Communicate concerns directly and privately with the coaching staff
