Our Coaches

Our coaches are current collegiate baseball players — not just instructors, but guys who live and breathe the game every day. That means coaching that’s fresh, relevant, and rooted in what actually works on today’s field. They bring up-to-the-minute techniques, situational know-how, and the kind of practice habits college programs demand.

Expect high-energy sessions packed with passion: drills that mimic real-game reps, candid feedback based on recent college play, and the intensity that only active competitors can provide. They connect with players through shared experience — showing how to read pitchers, refine swings for current pitching trends, sharpen defensive reads, and build the mental toughness coaches want at the next level.

In short: real players, real insight, real fire. Coaches who teach what’s working now and push kids to become better, smarter, and more confident ballplayers.

Head Coach 13U

Catcher Coach 10U & 13U

Tavien Tigg

Assistant Coach 13U

Pitching Coach 10U &13U

He learned to love pitching under the hot lights of Smyrna High School, where he earned All‑District honors in 2021 and left as a kid who always wanted one more inning. That hunger carried him to Kentucky Wesleyan College, where he spent three seasons honing a pitcher’s craft at the Division II level, and later to UT Southern in the NAIA, where his arm and approach earned him SSAC Pitcher of the Week in 2025.

Since 2023 he’s channeled that on‑field experience into coaching, building a reputation for developing young arms the right way — smart, safe, and effective. Players come to him for velocity development, command and biomechanical tuning, and they stay because he pairs a clear, technical eye with a practical sense for what a pitcher needs day to day. The results show: healthier arms, harder throwers and pitchers who can find the glove when it matters.

He cut his teeth in competitive summer ball as the assistant and pitching coach for the Boro Rippers in 2025, helping steer the team to a runner‑up finish at the Net Elite Tournament. That stint reinforced his approach: teach solid mechanics, prioritize arm care, and push for measurable gains without shortcutting long‑term health.

What he brings to a mound session is equal parts teacher, technician and hype man. Expect a coach who breaks down mechanics with precision, programs workloads that protect the arm, and pushes pitchers to add speed and sharpen command — all while keeping the work fun and the goals crystal clear.

Maxwell McHenry

Meet Coach Maxwell McHenry — Head Coach, The Boys 10U Travel Baseball

Maxwell McHenry is a Murfreesboro native whose life orbits around baseball. He brings fresh energy, real playing chops, and a keen sense of what it takes to win — all wrapped up in a coach who’s as excited about player development as he is about making the game fun.

  • Played at Columbia State Community College (JUCO), 2023–2025.

  • Current pitcher for the University of Tennessee Southern (NAIA) for the 2026 season.

A true utility athlete, Maxwell grew up playing infield and catching, moved to the outfield in high school, and has pitched at the collegiate level for the past four years — giving him a well-rounded baseball IQ to share with young players.

Coaching philosophy Though new to coaching, Maxwell already knows what winning looks like — on and off the field. He’ll lead the 10U program with an emphasis on development, accountability, relentless hustle, and most importantly, keeping the love of the game alive.
